Photos taken 11/24/12 on my way home from a team meeting at my school. This is the criminal court building in Kew Gardens on Queens blvd.
Architect: Alfred Easton Poor & William Gehron
Built:1956-1961
Cost: $21 million dollars
Consists of the court, house of detention, offices of district attorney, offices of departments of probation and correction, the criminal term of the Supreme Court.
The first photo shows the front entrance to the courthouse. The second photo shows the back which consists of the court and the prison. The third photo shows the right side of the courthouse which consists of glass and shows the outer area of the inner courts on three floors. The fourth shows an artistic piece off to the left side which moves with the wind.
I think this building is cool because of the way it's designed, especially the right side of it with the glass front. The building looks much more amazing on the inside because the entrance has a mural and the courts extend under the ground to the top floor where you can look out of the glass and onto the Van Wyck Exp.

Nice photos Veronika! This is a great example of contemporary civic architecture.
